Using Transaction Custom Fields in Promotions

Transaction custom fields can be used with Event Driven Promotion if enabled to do so. This allows you to recognise and reward members on very specific types of behaviour/data that you are able to capture in custom fields in member interactions/transactions.

Use Custom Fields as filtering criteria in the Recognition Section of the Promotion

Dropdown custom fields can be used as filtering criteria in the Event Driven Promotion to enable you run more targeted promotions based on your member behaviour. If you can capture the data in your members interactions/transactions, you can use it to recognise and reward behaviour.

To do this;

  1. In the settings of a Custom Field that is type Dropdown, tick the checkbox to "Use in Promotion Filtering"
  2. Using the Event Driven Promotion filter on the Member Interaction (Transaction) that holds this custom field. Note: The custom field will not be available for use if you filter on multiple interactions or do not filter on the single member interaction/transaction that holds this custom field.

You can now chose whatever promotion outcomes you want in order to reward the recognised member behaviour.

Use Custom Fields to Issued Percentage Points as a Promotion Outcome

Number or Money fields can be used to issue percentage points. For example, if you have a custom field that captures the amount of litres pumped at a gas station and you want to award points based on litres pumped instead of the Amount Spent. Another example might be to award members based on the calories burned in their workout rather than the cost of the class, or award based on steps counted from your fit bit. In order words, anything that can be counted you can use to issue percentage points.

To do this;

  1. In the settings of a Custom Field that is type Integer or Money, tick the checkbox to "Use to Issue Promotion % Points"
  2. Using the Event Driven Promotion filter on the Member Interaction (Transaction) that holds this custom field. Note: The custom field will not be available for use if you filter on multiple interactions or do not filter on the single member interaction/transaction that holds this custom field. Custom fields are also not available if you filter on products because the custom fields belongs at the transaction level and not at the product level.
  3. In the Promotion Outcome, choose to issue % points
  4. In the dropdown you can choose to issue % points based on the Total Transaction Amount or any of the custom fields you have enabled to use to Issue Promotion % Points
